Age 87, of Mound passed peacefully surrounded by family, October 14, 2024. Preceded in death by infants, son, Paul and daughter, Kathleen; parents, William and Helen Kanz; two brothers, Bill Kanz, Jim Kanz; two sisters Kathleen Anderson, Patricia Rudie.

Helen was born in Winona, MN on 8/20/1937. She moved to Minneapolis in 1942 where she attended the Basilica of Saint Mary until the 8th grade. She graduated from West High in 1955, where she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Halvarson.

She worked for Electronic Industries for six years and sold stereo systems. In 1959, she married Richard and moved to Mound in 1960. She owned the Rustique Decorating Center with partner Eleanor Willette. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church where she volunteered her time in many ways. Her family was her everything and rarely missed her Grandkids’ sporting events and activities.

She is survived by husband, Richard; daughter, Sue (Dan) Grady; son, Rich (DeAnn) Halvarson; son, Jim Halvarson; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Church 2385 Commerce Blvd. Mound, MN 55364. 10:00 AM visitation, 11:00 AM service.

Lunch will be served immediately after.
